Tank Cleaning & Desludging
Matrix Service utilizes the DDS™ tank cleaning method. The DDS™ Cleaning System has been developed to be a safe, fast and efficient method to remove unpumpable tank bottoms while eliminating the high disposal costs by recovering the previously unusable product for customers use. Complete portability of our equipment allows us to respond to tank cleaning problems quickly at attractive costing.
Matrix also has the ability to separate the sludge into oil, water and sediment. Through the use of the RS Jet Mixer system, boilers and centrifuges, Matrix can treat the sludge if the customer chooses to do so.
Tank Desludging Systems
Advantages of the RS1000™ Jet Mixer
- Increases storage capacity.
- Increases available inventory.
- Helps to eliminate floating roof operational problems.
- Reduces accumulation of entrapped water.
- Decreases maintenance costs.
The RS1000™ Jet Mixer is a rotating nozzle designed to deliver a stream of crude oil into the sludge build-up that typically occurs in crude oil tank bottoms. The speed and degree of rotation are controlled by an external hydraulic power pack. Various nozzle configurations are available to best suit the individual needs of each tank to be desludged.
Advantages of the RS1000™ Jet Mixer design
- The RS1000™ is designed to pull product through the same manway as the discharge. This allows for easier and quicker setup, typically requiring only two hoses.
- The RS1000™ is designed to sweep closer to the floor where the majority of water and sludge remains.
- The RS1000™ has no internal plugs or covers which are prone to leaking.
- The RS1000™ can be set to sweep in any amount ranging from 0-360 degrees.

A complete desludging service is available whenever the need may arise to reduce your tank bottoms. Our high-volume portable pumping unit can be quickly installed, the RS1000™ energized, and the pump removed, normally resulting in less than 7 days downtime for your tank. All of these functions are carried out by our skilled technicians, whose primary concerns are safety, environment and the satisfaction of our customers. Our mobile unit provides an extremely safe, cost-effective method of reducing tank bottoms. This process can also be used to prepare the tank for entry by personnel.
With the latest in computer technology, the configuration and volume of sludge build-up within a tank can be determined before and after desludging the tank. The example shown below illustrates the RS1000™ Jet Mixers capability.
